2026-07-11 Chapter 183 Combined Power

Synopsis: Jyoryu and Naruhime fused.

Can they really win this? (lol) Kyoka and the others seemed to think that if the enemy had a giant body like in the Rairen fight, they could just dive in and use Bell’s ability for an instant kill, but sadly and tragically Bell got pierced, struck by lightning, and left in critical condition. At this point most people would just die, but in Bell’s case, she seems to have enough immortality that Ren Yamashiro once said, “No one but me can kill her,” so she should only be near death. …Right?

Now then, if the Anti-Demon Corps is going to beat this fused form of the Eight Thunder Gods with this same lineup, who will be the key? Will it be Yuki, who can draw out the power of the Eight Thunder Gods dwelling inside his body? Or, as something that feels possible even though I really do not want it to happen, could it be a self-destruct attack from Tobera Azuma, the eldest of the Azuma family? The reason is that since last chapter, Tobera has been raising what feels like a death flag with “When this battle is over, I will give Yuki a reward.” I really do not want that. If that happens, one of the people who can give him rewards will be gone. But I still think it is possible.

This chapter’s happiness scene adds Maia Azuma and Homare Azuma to the post-battle reward, and Homare seeming so meek has a really enticing gap to it.

2026-06-27 Chapter 182 A Blow of Pride

Synopsis: Jyoryu and Naruhime hide.

Just when Naruhime got counterattacked by Kyoka and the others and said she might get serious, Jyoryu took her away and they hid, so we should see that trump card next chapter. I have no idea what will happen.

And this time, more than anything, it is the happiness scene. Tobera tells Yuki, “When this battle is over, everyone here will give you a reward,” and then that reward scene is shown, but as expected, Fubuki is on another level. The others have taken off their bras but are still wearing shorts, while Fubuki is not even wearing shorts, and what should be hidden is covered by speech bubbles. The line “So do your best” starts to make it unclear what he should do his best at. Fight hard, or do his best in the reward? Either way, I want Yuki to do his best. Tobera is in that scene, and given the perspective this is Yuki’s imagined and expected reward, so the only option is for him to do his best to make it happen.

2026-06-13 Chapter 181 The Gods’ Aim

Synopsis: Shikoku apparently has some kind of plan.

Shikoku is not the type to fight head-on, and Fukuma was talking about sensing presences or something, so they must have prepared something. I have no idea what exactly at this point, but if Tenka (Konomi) is the one facing it, it should be fine. Still, Konomi feels more like a straightforward fighter, so I am worried.

The happiness part is a flashback to the group reward. Back then I thought this looked exactly like the kind of thing that would get a newly drawn bonus, but it did not, so I wanted to see more details, and then it got inserted as a flashback. Thank you. And because they called it an advance payment on the reward and it felt like there might still be more, this might show up again in a flashback somewhere. Looking forward to it.

2026-05-30 Chapter 180 Thunderous Force

Synopsis: Yuki has a one-on-one fight with Naruhime.

There had been a break in between, so I had been really looking forward to this. The part where Kyoka shields Yuki genuinely made me panic. As you may know, Takahiro, the original creator of this series, also wrote Akame ga Kill! and was willing to kill off even major characters without hesitation. So there is always this fear that that style might suddenly return to this series too. This chapter’s depiction of Kyoka felt like it got very close to that line, so I broke out in a real cold sweat.

But then that fear naturally disappeared with the happiness in Naruhime’s flashback. In previous depictions Naruhime had mostly been passive, but this time she seemed to have gotten used to it and moved to the attacking side, which I really liked.

By the way, the subtitle “Raitei Bankin” means “a metaphor for momentum or power so intense that it cannot be compared to anything else.” (Source: Yoji Jitenon ONLINE “雷霆万鈞”) It is exactly the right phrase to describe Naruhime overwhelming Kyoka and the others. Also, when I reread it, the name of the weapon that cut Kyoka down was also “Raitei.”

2026-05-02 Chapter 179 Unstoppable Evolution

Synopsis: Fubuki starts round two against Jyoryu.

I liked that Fubuki’s awakening was a simple power-up, with no forced gimmick, and it matched her character. In the first place, Fubuki’s own ability is so simple that I do not think it has even been explained in the story (if I remember right), probably just “manipulating spears.” Seeing her, with her own strength and skill, use that ability to stand against Jyoryu, who is one of the Eight Thunder Gods and also uses tricky tactics, really made me feel that she is indeed a squad leader.

This chapter is a serious battle chapter, so no happiness scene.

Here is the previous volume, which had amazing newly drawn Fubuki art!
