While Commander-in-Chief Ren Yamashiro is impressive, Izumo Tenka truly takes the cake.

I’ve just finished reading “Chained Soldier Volume 17” which released today, so I’ll share my thoughts on it.

Since this is my first time writing about this series on this blog, let me briefly explain it.

This is an action & ecchi manga currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump+.

The story unfolds in mysterious alternate dimensions called “Mato” that suddenly appeared throughout Japan. The “Peaches” that exist in these Mato bestow special abilities upon women, and an organization called the “Demon Prevention Squad” utilizes these abilities to protect people from monsters. The protagonist, Wakakura Yuki, a high school boy, accidentally wanders into Mato and meets Hanzen Kyoka, the commander of the Demon Prevention Squad’s 7th Unit, becoming her “slave” to fight alongside her…and so on.

With such a setting, the protagonist is surrounded entirely by women. It’s a pseudo-harem situation, and since many of the women wear military-like uniforms, it’s quite a fetish-filled manga.

In this volume 17: Commander-in-Chief Ren Yamashiro shows a stance of outwardly accepting God’s proposal (while being ready to crush any schemes), while on the other hand, Commander Hanzen Kyoka insists on making no compromises whatsoever. They decide to settle things with a commander-in-chief election, and the climactic one-on-one battle begins: Ren Yamashiro vs. Hanzen Kyoka & Wakakura Yuki.

While this climactic battle scene is impressive, what really stands out in this volume is the commander-in-chief election brings a flood of new characters, and seeing familiar characters make comebacks is a highlight.

Haruno Kue, the 7th Unit OG who is my personal favorite, appears as both a stand-in for the 7th Unit and as a commentator for the commander-in-chief election, so I enjoyed it without a single complaint.

And the biggest “Happiness” (as the author calls sexy scenes in their explanation at the end of the volume, a term this blog will adopt as well) in this volume would be Izumo Tenka who has “overflowing affection.” It’s nothing unusual for her body to move without her slave ability reward, but this volume features a particularly noteworthy scene.

It’s when she removes her skirt—from behind, you can see her underwear with an area that has a noticeably deeper color. Those who purchased the digital version should feel free to zoom in for a closer look. You can interpret it coolly as “that’s just a shadow,” but indulging in the imagination of “overflowing affection” taken literally is also quite amusing.

By the way, Tenka appears in the volume’s promotional material as you can see from her featured face, and also appears in the original illustration manga included as a bonus with the physical volume. Needless to say, it’s full of highlights, so please purchase a copy to check it out.

So, be sure to read “Chained Soldier Volume 17” now available!

If you haven’t read it yet, I recommend progressing through Weekly Shonen Jump+, where you can read all episodes for free on the app. I suggest at least reading up to the episode where Izumo Tenka, who I discussed today, appears.

If you like it, of course I recommend purchasing all previously released volumes, but if you’re particularly attracted to the tankoubon bonuses, starting from volume 5 is a good option. This volume onwards includes the tankoubon bonus “Mystery Light Removal” in addition to the previously mentioned “Original Manga Illustration” as bonuses. I mention this as some useful information to consider.

With that, I’ll close this article by wishing for this work to continue overflowing with much “Happiness.”
